As students complete their Intermediate, thereon begins the frenzied race to get into a reputed professional college or university. For those who have dreamt of becoming an engineer or doctor all their lives, this phase is the threshold to those aspirations. This is the time for 12 years of schooling to finally pay off. After all, isn’t this what you crammed for in your Grade 9-10 exams? Isn’t this why you burned the midnight oil in your first year and second-year FSc exams? Yet the question is, is it enough to get you into the Engineering or Medical or Dental college of your choice?

What is ECAT and MDCAT?

ECAT is an acronym for the Engineering College Admission Test for admission to BE/BS/BSc Engineering degree institutes. MCAT stands for Medical College Admission Test, a pre-requisite test to get admission in medical colleges in both the private and public sector.

Most candidates prefer getting admission into public colleges due to the nominal fee because in comparison the fee structure of private colleges is not affordable by the masses unless you are prepared to take loans. Needless to say, there is a cut-throat competition to get into public engineering and medical colleges and thus the need to pass the ECAT or MDCAT becomes even more vital.

Why do you need experts to help you pass ECAT and MDCAT?

More than 100,000 to 150,000 students appear in the College Admission Test every year, whereas the number of available seats are between 2000 to 3000. For reasons logistics, the number of seats cannot increase drastically. So, the efforts that go into passing this test with flying colors must definitely increase.

The truth of the matter is that students don’t take their first year and second year seriously. They revel in the independence they get in college right after the systematic rigors of 10 years of school life. In fact, if you’re in a government college you’ll be lucky to have taken a class regularly. In such a scenario, you breeze through the actual years yet, when the end of the year exams appear, you cram at the last minute and try your utmost to get through them.

The ECAT MDCAT format:

Yet, the ECAT and MDCAT are not to be taken easily. They have a particular format that tests a candidate on the basic science and language skills. ECAT is taken as 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ); each MCQ has 4 marks while there is a negative marking of -1 mark for each wrong answer. The questions are from the subjects of Maths (30 questions), Chemistry (30 questions), Physics (30 questions) and English (10 questions) to be attempted in 100 minutes.

MDCAT is taken as multiple choice questions (MCQ) where each MCQ carries 1 mark while there is no negative marking for a wrong answer—the total score of MDCAT culminating to 200. 20 additional marks are given to students who have memorized the Quran in their Intermediate exams.

There is a science behind the preparation of the test. The focus and stress control that comes with attempting a test of this magnitude is also something that has to be trained for. The next step is attempting the test which coaching centers help students achieve with regular drilling and practice fostering focus. Yet, paying the fee for a coaching center or tuitions may be additionally burdensome.
